Shopify DNS Settings Checker

Type your domain and see the three DNS settings that decide whether your Shopify store opens on it: the A record of the root domain, the CNAME of the www version, and any TXT records. We compare each one with what Shopify asks for, and show you how to fix what is wrong.

Enter the domain only, for example abcdomain.com. We look up abcdomain.com and www.abcdomain.com for you.

The DNS settings Shopify expects

To open your store on a domain you bought elsewhere, Shopify asks for these records. The checker tests the first two.

RecordHost / nameValue it should haveNeeded?
A@ (abcdomain.com)23.227.38.65Yes, only one A record
CNAMEwww (www.abcdomain.com)shops.myshopify.comYes, only one www CNAME
AAAA@ (abcdomain.com)2620:127:f00f:5::Optional
TXT@ (abcdomain.com)Nothing for ShopifyOnly for email and verification

Values are taken from Shopify's own guide, Connect your third-party domain to Shopify manually. Shopify can change them, so confirm in your Shopify admin under Settings, then Domains, if a check ever looks wrong.

Why .pk store owners get stuck connecting Shopify

The Shopify steps are short. The trouble starts when the DNS panel that comes with your domain does not let you finish them. These are the roadblocks that come up again and again with .pk domains, Shopify stores and Blogger blogs.

There is no place to add a custom CNAME

The standard tools that come with a .pk domain do not let you create custom CNAME records. Shopify, Blogger and Meta all ask for exactly that, so the setup stops at the first step.

Verification asks for a TXT record

Verifying your store's domain for a Facebook page or Meta Business account is usually done with a TXT record. If the panel only has fixed fields there is nowhere to paste it, and a value pasted with a stray space or quote simply never verifies.

Name servers or records, but not both

Some registrars let you change the name servers or edit simple records, not both together. Switch the name servers without copying your old records and your website or email can go offline.

Old records from a previous host

A leftover A record or IPv6 (AAAA) record is the most common reason a setup that looks right still shows the old site. Shopify needs exactly one A record.

Blogger wants two CNAMEs and four A records

Blogger gives you a www CNAME, a second verification CNAME with a long unique name and value, and four A records if the bare domain should work too. Panels with fixed fields often reject or cut those values.

You wait and get no feedback

DNS can take hours to spread and nothing tells you which step is wrong. The check at the top of this page shows what the internet sees right now, record by record.

DNS Hosting

DNS Hosting plans for Shopify and Blogger

Point your domain to our DNS Hosting and you get a cPanel account with the Zone Editor. In it you add the Shopify A record, the www CNAME and your TXT verification records yourself, together with as many other records as you need. Nothing to ask support for, and it works for .pk domains.

DNS Hosting name servers

After you order, set these two name servers for your domain at the place where it is registered.

Name server 2cpns2.mypremiumdns.com

DNS Hosting hosts your domain's DNS zone only. It is not website hosting, so your Shopify store or Blogger blog stays where it is. See all DNS hosting plans in the order form, or ask us which plan fits.

How DNS Hosting gets your store connected

Seven short steps, and the checker at the top tells you when each record is right.

  1. Order DNS Hosting 1 or 2. Choose DNS Hosting 1 for one domain or DNS Hosting 2 for five.
  2. Receive your cPanel account. You get your cPanel login. The name servers for every DNS Hosting domain are cpns1.mypremiumdns.com and cpns2.mypremiumdns.com.
  3. Note your current records. Write down the records your website and email use today, such as MX and SPF, so you can add them to the new zone too.
  4. Set the name servers. At the place where the domain is registered, change its name servers to cpns1.mypremiumdns.com and cpns2.mypremiumdns.com.
  5. Add your records in the Zone Editor. Open cPanel, then Zone Editor, then Manage for your domain. Add the A record 23.227.38.65, the www CNAME shops.myshopify.com and any TXT verification record.
  6. Check it here. Run the checker above. When the A record and the www CNAME are both green, Shopify can connect the domain.
  7. Finish in Shopify, Meta or Blogger. Connect the domain in Shopify, press Verify for your Facebook page or Meta Business account, or save the custom domain in Blogger.

Records you can add in the Zone Editor

Because the zone is yours to edit, one account covers every service that needs a DNS record.

How to use the checker

It takes a few seconds and changes nothing on your domain.

  1. Enter your domain. Type it as abcdomain.com. If you paste www.abcdomain.com or a full link, we trim it for you.
  2. Read the three cards. Green means the record matches Shopify. Amber means it works but something should be tidied. Red means a record is missing or points somewhere else.
  3. Make the listed changes. The result ends with a short fix list showing the exact type, host and value to set where your DNS is managed.
  4. Check again later. DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to reach every network, so run the checker again if a record has not updated yet.

What your result means

Most “domain not connected” messages come from one of these.

The A record points to another address

Shopify can only connect once the single A record is 23.227.38.65. Edit the old record rather than adding a new one beside it.

Two A records are listed

One of them is Shopify's and one is left over, so visitors reach either at random. Delete every A record except 23.227.38.65.

www does not open the store

The www host needs a CNAME to shops.myshopify.com. A www A record, or a CNAME to another service, cannot be used. Replace it.

An old IPv6 (AAAA) record is still there

Browsers on IPv6 prefer an AAAA record. If it points at your previous host they never reach Shopify. Remove it, or change it to 2620:127:f00f:5::.

The records are right but SSL is missing

Shopify issues the certificate once DNS is correct, which can take up to 48 hours. A CAA record that does not allow letsencrypt.org can block it, and the checker warns you about it.

You see no TXT records

That is normal. Shopify does not need a TXT record to connect a domain. They only appear for email security or when you verified the domain with another service.

Shopify DNS settings checker questions

Short answers about pointing a domain at Shopify and about DNS Hosting.

What DNS records does Shopify need for a custom domain?

Two records decide whether your store opens on your own domain. The root domain needs an A record with the value 23.227.38.65, and the www host needs a CNAME record pointing to shops.myshopify.com. Shopify also publishes an IPv6 address, 2620:127:f00f:5::, for an optional AAAA record. A domain should have only one A record and one www CNAME, so old records from a previous host must be changed or removed.

Why can't I add a CNAME or TXT record to my .pk domain?

The standard tools that come with a .pk domain do not include a custom zone editor, so there is nowhere to create your own CNAME or TXT entries. Shopify, Blogger and Meta (Facebook) all ask for exactly those. The fix is to host the domain's DNS somewhere that does give you a zone editor. With PK DOMAIN DNS Hosting you point the domain's name servers to cpns1.mypremiumdns.com and cpns2.mypremiumdns.com and manage every record yourself in the cPanel Zone Editor.

What is DNS Hosting, and is it the same as web hosting?

No. DNS Hosting only hosts your domain's DNS zone, the list of records that tells the internet where your website, store, blog and email live. It does not host a website. Your Shopify store stays on Shopify and your Blogger blog stays on Blogger. You get a cPanel account to edit the zone, with unlimited records.

What is the difference between DNS Hosting 1 and DNS Hosting 2?

The records are unlimited on both. DNS Hosting 1 covers one domain and DNS Hosting 2 covers five domains, so the second plan costs less per domain if you run several stores or blogs. Both come with the cPanel Zone Editor. Current prices are shown on this page and in the order form.

How do I verify my Shopify store domain for Facebook or Meta?

Meta lets you verify a domain by adding a TXT record that starts with facebook-domain-verification=. Copy the value Meta shows you, open the Zone Editor in cPanel, add a TXT record on the root domain (the @ host) and paste the value, then press Verify in Meta Business settings. Meta can take a while to notice the record, so check it here first to confirm it is published.

Can I use DNS Hosting to connect a .pk domain to Blogger?

Yes. Blogger asks for a CNAME record on www that points to ghs.google.com, plus a second verification CNAME with a long name and value that is unique to your blog. To make the bare domain work too, Google lists four A records. All of these are ordinary zone records, so you can add them in the Zone Editor. Always copy the verification pair from your own Blogger screen.

Will switching to DNS Hosting break my website or email?

It can if you skip a step. When you change a domain's name servers, the new DNS zone replaces the old one. Before you switch, write down every record you use now (website, mail MX records, SPF and other TXT records) and add them to the new zone as well. Do that and nothing goes offline.

Why does the checker say my A record is wrong?

Usually the domain still points at the old website host or at an address left over from a site builder. Change the existing A record to 23.227.38.65 instead of adding a second one. If you already changed it, the new value can take from a few minutes to about 48 hours to reach every network, so check again later.

Do I need a TXT record to connect my domain to Shopify?

No. Connecting a domain only needs the A record and the www CNAME. TXT records are used for other jobs, mainly email security (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) and ownership checks for services such as Google or Meta. The checker lists the TXT records it finds so you can see what is already published, and existing email records can stay where they are.

How long do DNS changes take to show up?

Many changes appear within minutes, and some networks keep the old answer until its TTL expires. Plan for up to 48 hours before you decide something is wrong. Lowering the TTL a day before you make a change speeds up the next one.

Can I connect a subdomain such as shop.abcdomain.com instead?

Yes, Shopify can serve a store from a subdomain by pointing a CNAME record at shops.myshopify.com. This page checks the root domain and the www host. To look at a subdomain, use the DNS lookup tool, choose the CNAME type and type the full subdomain.

Does the checker change my DNS or need a login?

No. It only reads public DNS records, the same information anyone can look up, so there is nothing to sign in to and nothing is changed. You still make the fixes yourself at the place where your DNS is managed.
